Part of your recovery from breast cancer involves restoring your physical appearance. At Elizabeth’s we are dedicated to making this process as easy and pleasant as possible. Modern post mastectomy products are a vast improvement over prosthetics offered earlier. Breast prostheses are made of medical grade silicone, in many different shapes, densities and sizes – just like us. Many women are pleasantly surprised at how lifelike their prosthesis appears. Once you have been properly fitted, no one should be able to tell you have had breast surgery – while you are wearing your prosthesis and bra. |

Fittings are by appointment, to ensure privacy for everyone. You are welcome to stop by anytime you need us, for support or information, before or after surgery, for yourself or a friend. We are always in Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am until 4pm. We are available outside of these hours occasionally, and for special circumstances. You will want to have your stitches out, and be comfortable with the pressure of a bra before your actual fitting – usually 4 to 6 weeks after surgery. We encourage you to bring along your spouse or a girlfriend, for an objective opinion and support.
We will fit you with post mastectomy bras which are very similar to regular fashion bras; however, they have a special pocket sewn into the cup that holds your prosthesis in place. We stock about 50 different styles of post mastectomy bras; they are available in white, beige and black as well as many colors. There are lacey bras, plain bras, sports bras, seamless bras, underwires, front closures, strapless, detachable straps etc. Our focus is a custom fit – hence all necessary adjustments are made here, while you wait. Mastectomy swimwear (swimsuits with specially designed pockets to hold your breast form), are available year round, in sizes 6 to 20, in every color. |

Many women fear the cost of a fitting. Every woman in the province of Ontario with a valid health card, who requires a prosthesis/breast form due to a mastectomy/lumpectomy or a congenital defect of one breast, qualifies for a grant from the Ministry of Health for partial funding of their prosthesis.
See www.health.gov.on.ca./english/public/pub/adp/breast.html for specific details. In addition many women have coverage under an extended health benefit plan through an employer. Elizabeth’s will help you complete all the necessary paperwork for both the grant and your private insurance. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and Debit as methods of payment.
Silicone prostheses range in price from $280 to $412, with the most popular models being $368 to $392 depending on what you require; The Ministry of Health will refund you $195 of this amount, the balance could be covered by your private health insurance. Most mastectomy bras are $60 each, and mastectomy swimwear is usually $90 for a domestic suit and $130+ for an imported design. Professional fitters with many years of training and experience work at Elizabeth’s. It does not cost more to be fitted at a Mastectomy Boutique, and usually costs less than places where several medical devices are fitted. |

There are four of us who make up the team at Elizabeth’s. Isabel, Rachael, Carla and Kathy are your certified fitters. We all have some form of personal experience with the breast cancer continuum, from diagnosis to treatment – two of us have worn a prosthesis for over 20 years. When we say we know how you feel – we really do. Elizabeth’s is run by women – for women. |
